Open Position - Department Coordinator

Brief Description: Works with a team that organizes and directs operations in a manufacturing environment. Reports to department supervisor and completes tasks as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • With direction from the department supervisor, schedules and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Provides leadership to a diverse workforce.
  • Determines labor needs according to schedules.
  • Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development.
  • Answers questions and resolves any problems that arise with workers or production.
  • As assigned keeps in contact with customers and provides quality customer service.
  • Committed to practicing 5S.
  • With direct supervisor’s direction, develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Keeps production whiteboard up to date.
  • Works with department supervisor to revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure and operating problems.
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery.
  • Notifies supervisor of material needs.
  • Commitment to ISO and Lean Manufacturing standards.
  • Operates RF Gun to move parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Lead in production or warehouse facility.
  • Associates degree in business or related field or proof of continuing education preferred.
  • History of training department staff.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions either in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Knowledge of production equipment and tools such as a forklift, electric hand or pallet jacks, automated baggers, electric tape machines, sewing machines, label printers, and cutting tools.
  • Knowledge of packaging work orders and sales orders.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and motivational factors affecting employee performance and self-esteem.
  • Skill to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to use basic office equipment including printer, fax machine, and copy machine.
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing priorities and/or situations.

  • Ability to handle pressure of deadlines and stay patient while tasks are being performed.

Strength/Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to be on feet for 8 hours each day either standing or walking.
  • Regularly required to bend, stoop, or reach with hands and arms.
  • Lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, with infrequent lifting or carrying of small tools or objects.

Open Position - Forklift Operator

Brief Description: Operates the lifting and tilting controls and steers the forklift into position to load, move, transport, and stack goods and materials contained on pallets and/or crates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Loads trucks, ensuring loads are evenly and securely placed.
  • Unloads trucks, ensuring material is brought to the correct area.
  • Follows safety procedures according to shop regulations.
  • Moves raw materials and finished goods to processing or dock areas of the warehouse.
  • Sorts material for required areas.
  • Weighs material before loading trucks, if needed.
  • Puts out paperwork, ensuring it is placed with the correct material, if needed.
  • Moves pallets and crates when needed.
  • Ensure goods are stored in the correct area of the warehouse so they may be located easily when processing orders.
  • Communicates with supervisor if there is a problem with the forklift.
  • Continuously inspects the forklift throughout the day to verify that the brakes, steering, etc. are working correctly.
  • Completes a Pre-Start Up Safety Checklist every morning before operating the machine.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Strength Demands:

  • Lifting and carrying of up to 20 pounds with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously getting on and off the forklift throughout the day.
  • Bending and twisting.

Work Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work 40 hours per week.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Must wear safety seatbelt at all times while operating a forklift.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to cooperate/communicate with other employees, supervisors, and line leaders.
  • Must be considerate to customers/truck drivers and have patience as they watch over the loading or unloading of their trucks.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and safety awareness.
  • Knowledge of basic forklift operations.
  • Knowledge of how the hydraulics system of a forklift works.
  • Skill to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Coordination skills and good reflexes.
  • Ability to water battery when necessary.
  • Ability to judge distances.
  • Ability to adjust to ever changing conditions in the warehouse.
  • Ability to rotate to any area of the warehouse on a weekly basis.

  • Must be able to use RF gun to scan product for locating in correct to load trucks in shipping and unload in receiving.

Education/Experience:

  • 1 year experience driving a forklift.
  • 1 year experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Must pass in house certification.
  • No educational requirement.

Open Position - Line Lead

Brief Description:  Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in packing products and material to ensure the end result meets quality standards before shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Observes packing operations to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Interprets job work orders to workers and assigns duties.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Monitors worker productivity.
  • Motivates workers.
  • Controls and implements job assignment/rotation plan for workers.
  • Assures materials are being properly handled, routed, and controlled.
  • Ensures that safety standards are adhered to.
  • Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Performs hourly checks on tables and tracks progress of workers.
  • Verifies counts on material being packaged.
  • Sets scale to determine the number of pieces each container requires for all orders requiring more than 10 items per container.
  • Keeps track of scrap, inputs information into the computer, and prints out paperwork.
  • Verifies packaging work orders.
  • Pays close attention to dates on material in order to determine what material should be completed first.
  • Communicates with supervisor when problems arise.
  • Keeps track of daily labor sheet including part numbers.
  • Assigns bags/boxes to material and creates a sample to be checked by a supervisor.
  • Assigns table numbers to all material.
  • Keeps track of own paperwork.
  • Notifies supervisor when in need of a blueprint.
  • Works in the flow of the line, as time permits and needs arise.
  • Prints labels.
  • Tally up production orders upon completion.
  • Audits and closes tri wall.
  • Double checks tags on tri wall to be sure they are correct.
  • Be able to utilize the RF gun for put-away, picking and packing processes and perform all functions of a line leader associated with Caterpillar EWM processes
  • Be able to utilize monitor to check job status and picks, and to correct issues when they arise.
  • Adjusts paperwork when there are quantity discrepancies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Strength/Physical Demands:

  • Occasional lifting or carrying of small tools or objects.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25-35 pounds

  • Skill to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to establish priorities, organize and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to ever changing priorities and/or situations.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle pressure of deadlines and stay patient while tasks are being performed.

 Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience in a managerial/supervisory role preferred.

Open Position - Sewing Machine Operator

Brief Description: Operates electric powered sewing machine to produce a variety of items
such as straps, boots, aprons, and bags in accordance with customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up sewing machine and selects threads.
  • Discusses daily work requirements with the supervisor or lead person.
  • Ensures that tasks are completed according to customer specifications.
  • Alters the machine settings to suit the type of material.
  • Uses marking pencil to track the area that must be sewn or cut.
  • Follows appropriate instructions per job, positions the material together through the machine, and guides it through the machine.
  • Inspects material and finished products to ensure that they meet customer specifications.
  • Keeps samples of finished products to reference at a later date.
  • Performs general preventative maintenance on sewing equipment.
  • Helps put kits together or assists on the packing line when needed.
  • Creates prototypes and samples of material when asked to.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Strength/Physical Demands:

  • Must have steady hands and good eyesight (with or without glasses).
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Regularly required to sit for long periods of time while tasks are being performed.

Work Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work 40 hours per week.
  • Worker has moderate supervision at all times.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience using industrial sewing equipment and methods, needle sizes, fabrics, and machine-threading techniques.
  • Must have good sewing skills and an eye for detail.
  • Skill to perform tasks neatly, accurately, and carefully.
  • Skill to work in a team oriented environment.
  • Ability to handle pressure of deadlines and stay patient while tasks are being performed.
  • Ability to perform tasks of a repetitive nature.
  • Ability to follow instructions and remained focused.
  • Ability to use a ruler to measure material before sewing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

 Education/Experience:

  • No specific educational requirements.
  • 1 year of experience with sewing operations in a production facility.
